Blaupunkt has always known as a function-before-form reputation manufacturing. But when you have a first glance of this product you might think otherwise, because this set of two PA4100s, one PA215, and a PA2100 is not only an amp, but also other interesting parts with cool colors on their head units and other “wow” stuff. But that thought aren’t always true when you understand the product.
The amps comes with a remote gain control, four different color lids, and mountings for use of amp out of its plastic case. Its size is great, it’s a half the size of their power rating, with the right weight for what looks like plastic.
But it is not plastic, when the lid is detached, the bottom piece attached to the amplifier. The top lid is a clear plastic and the bottom is a cast aluminum piece, cool and quite heavy. This is a very small and completely usable amp. The amp is based on the TriPath chip, its often called the Class T or Class D full range amp.
All amps handle the high-pass, low-pass, and even band-pass on some. Also with a bass boost centered at 45 Hz. And it’s all require only a small space.
The connections are at one end of the amp, and not easy to conceal with Bosch connectors for power and speaker connections so you can make all of your connections to a connectors first and then simply plug the amp in.
The remote gain control is cool with a nice blue LED that indicates the amp is on, it also uses a regular telephone type connector for the amp. It doesn’t disconnect at the module, plan the wiring well ahead of time. There are instructions on how to use the own gain pot for a knob custom mounting.
The amps are rated for a minimum 2-ohm load, so use a 4-ohm woofer to get a lot of bass. The main difference of the amps with another of its kind is it creates a lot of space, a lot less heat, and a changeable cool look with a customizable front plates. Its performance is like other amp from the same class, with good looks and a small size.
