Two separate amplifiers also has it’s own advantages, it’ll have less cross-talk or signal bleed between channels. If your sub’s amp distorts wont affect the sound quality because you have the other amp. It’ll also have better heat dissipation with more heat sink. You can also specialized different amp for specific task, a class D amp is famous for the high power versus current draw from the electrical system, it is great for powering subs but not so good for midrange and tweeters. With separate amp you can select each specialized amp for different purpose to give optimal performance. If money is not an issue then the separate amplifiers can be an option. But you need to match the amp’s performance to the speakers and subs impedance.
