Ignition noise is one of the most annoying sound in the car audio system. It sounds like a buzzing or popping sound when the engine is running. Here are some ways we can do to reduce or even eliminate ignition noise.
Run the Constant hot B+ (memory) wire exactly to the battery’s positive terminals, don’t use the fuse block in the car to give power to the source unit.
If your problem is a buzzing sound check the points, distributor, or coil. Try changing the condenser on the coil as well as the points. Be sure that all wires are properly seated in the distributor cap. For extra attention you can try adding a 2200 uF cap from the positive terminal on the coil to chassis ground.
Be sure of the where the noise source is, you have a bad wire if the noise is a popping sound that pop 2 or 3 times per second. Check all wire connection, if it still don’t work you maybe have a damage plug wire, replace the wire with silicone resistor plug wire.
Be sure to use resistor type plug wires and resistor spark plugs.
If all of that doesn’t do the trick, maybe it’s because of the introduction. Take the head unit off the dash and listen for any noise. If the noise is gone, reroute any wiring harness that close to the deck. If it can’t be done use adhesive metal shielding, see if it work.
Please take care and work safely.
