Car amplifiers produce power for the speakers, in order to do that they also produce heat. It uses the heat sink to absorb and dissipates heat. When you install an amplifier for your car make sure you install it in the right place for it’s air circulation so it wont get overheated in any case. The common place to install amplifiers in your car is usually under the front seat if you want it to power your door panel speakers or in the trunk if you want it to power your subwoofers.
Overheated amplifiers can be a serious problem, it could damage your amplifier permanently. The common solution is to place it in the right place or build a customized cooler for your amplifiers. About placing, make sure that it is minimal 3” away from it’s surrounding so it could get a nice air circulation, and don’t mount your amplifier upside down, it wont be able to dissipate heat. Or you can build a hard-wired-to-the-car external cooling such as 3-5” PC fans with an On/Off button that are perfect for car electrical system.
